Mentorship

Shaping Positive Behaviors is offering mentorship with a qualified BCBA and business owner.


This is recommended to new clinicians as they navigate the transition from behavior technician to the practitioner. Mentorship is also recommended as individuals enter new phases of their
professional careers. This mentorship program is led by the Mentee based on their individual needs. This is an opportunity for new BCBAs to obtain the information needed to transition into their new roles of BCBAs and/or business owners. Mentorship services are to provide guidance,
advice, and how to complete job duties.

 

What to expect from mentorship?
For newly certified, or inexperienced, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), a specialized mentorship program.

 

This mentorship could include:

  • Weekly mentorship meetings with a senior BCBA to review questions, concerns, learner-specific questions, collaboration, and deliver/receive specific feedback.

  • Individualized mentee-led meetings based on the mentee's needs.

  • Monthly group meetings related to diverse Applied Behavior Analytic topics. The meetings are open to all mentees.

  • Monthly supervision meetings with BCBA.

  • Close collaboration with your mentor BCBA and other experienced BCBAs: case collaboration, consultation, overlap, and treatment plan assistance.

LOOKING FOR QUALITY BCBA OR BCABA SUPERVISION?

Shaping Positive Behaviors provides quality and affordable supervision services to BCBA and BCaBA candidates. The purpose of BCBA/BCaBA supervision is to gain personalized experience with a BCBA and apply behavior-analytic concepts include in the BACB task list, and other applied behavior analysis principles in order to prepare to enter the workforce as a
BCBA.

 

If you are just starting out then you should review this book by Dr. Ellie Kazemi, Brian Rice, and Dr. Peter Adzhyan. They cover important topics regarding effective supervision experiences.

How much supervision do I need? 

  • Individualized supervision for BCaBA requires 1000 total hours, 5% are supervised which equates to approximately 50 hours of supervision. 

  • For the 5th edition task list, the BACB is updating the requirements for supervision starting in 2022 requiring 1300 hours of supervision for BCaBA’s with 5% of those being supervised. Click here for more information.

    • For the 4th Edition task list, individualized supervision for BCBA requires 1500 total experience hours, 5% of which are supervised by a BCBA. This equates to approximately 75 hours by the end of your supervision. If you are planning to apply for the exam under the 4th edition, you need to submit your application prior to December 31st, 2021. 
    • For the 5th edition task list, the BACB is updating the requirements for supervision starting in 2022 requiring 2000 hours of supervision with 5% of those being supervised. Click here for more information.

How much does it cost? 

My hourly rate for supervision is $75 per hour. For example, if you have 20 hours per week of fieldwork, you will be required to have 1 hour of supervision per week*. The cost is 75.00 per week. 

*BACB requires supervision equal at least 5% of your fieldwork each month

CEUs

We provide CEUs for BCBAs and BCaBAs. Our CEUs courses covering important topics in ABA, like de-escalation, ethics, advocating for autism insurance reform, and much more. 
 

Shaping Positive Behaviors is a BACB approved continuing education (ACE) provider, OP-20-3463. All CEs earned by attendees at Shaping Positive Behaviors event are Type 2 CEs. Many of the events meet the Professional and Ethical (PEL) requirement set by the BACB and are noted as such in programs and attendance records.


 

The Behavior Analyst Certification Board® does not warrant, endorse, sponsor, approve or partner with the CE events, this organization, or instructors. Shaping Positive Behaviors is an Approved Learning CE Provider. Therefore, you can rest assured that your CE credits will be accepted by the BACB.
